Hibiscus Improvements – New swing, bench, jetty lengthened & more.
Another similar improvement was the placement of a bench. Residents held a garage sale in an effort to raise money to purchase benches. Initially it was along the walkway in front of Tower 1. As of this writing it has been moved and is now near Tower 2.
Bike racks have been placed in the entry area of the stairwells in both towers which is nice for folks with bikes. It saves them from having to store them inside their units. 🙂
The reasoning behind the lengthening might be, the thought that with more length, the jetty might block the movement of eroded shoreline sediments and therefore, there might be less shoreline sediment that will get around the jetty and be deposited in the channel and harbor. If it works that way, it could be a good thing. In the past the sediments from shoreline erosion have been transported along the channel seawall where some settle out. However, some sediments travel around the corner of the seawall where the current slacks, and they then settle out, filling in around the stormwater retention pond outfall.
Bige and his crew of volunteer Hibiscus By The Bay residents also placed rock along the shoreline on both sides of the pool deck, to help stop erosion in that area as well.
That’s all the Hibiscus improvements we know about at this time. We hope you enjoyed this post! Please let us know your thoughts by commenting and feel free to share the post!
Thanks and have a GREAT day!
