October Tides – Fish the October Tides!
Welcome to the October Tides!
I do not have much of a fishing report for the month of September. We have been busy working our real estate business which has been demanding a lot of time.
Inshore the redfish has really been on fire with reports and photos of bull reds being caught at the Hathaway Bridge. In the past, October has been my favorite month to fish. The redfish bite gets really turned on, and the trout bite with the cooler October nights gets better as well. The flounder bite may get started, which means we will be making a few trips to the pass, because Vivian loves to eat flounder! 🙂
We got on the Gulf Of Mexico when some friends and customers kindly asked us to go fishing with them on their brand new Everglades 355 center console. What a beautiful fishing boat! Unfortunately, the sea conditions prevented us from going offshore, so we fished the pass and some near shore public numbers. The gals caught a lot of small fish and under size triggerfish. Us guys managed to catch some mangrove snappers, aka black snapper or gray snapper, bee-liners and a couple of under sized gag groupers.
We fished a variety of baits. Dead bait included cut squid, cigar minnows, and butterflied choffers. Live bait included cigar minnows, choffers and pogies. All the baits were successful, with the mangroves liking the small live choffers and butterflied choffers. The mangroves liked the cigar live cigar minnows but we weren’t able to get them hooked up on the cigar minnows like we could on the choffers. The groupers liked the live choffers.
Thank you Lynn and Deanna for a GREAT day on the Gulf Of Mexico in your fine new boat!
We hope to get more fishing time in and fish the October tides! 😉
