Hello Cast & Crew of the Back to the 50's (and 60's) Tonight Performance,
I could say thank you for your tireless effort in putting on this performance or
for the great show you put on, but I really want to thank you for how you
embraced my students! This is the first time in Pyramid history that our
students were fully integrated into a community performance. As some of you know
it is hard to be accepted in society if you have a disability & then add on top
of that a developmental disability...it makes it that much harder. You guys
broke barriers Saturday night & showed a community that we are all created
equal. We can do things together and without bias. For that I THANK YOU!!!
Please know that you will forever be remembered in the lives of Jonathan, Diane,
Matthew, Alethia & Clyde (as well as Pyramid). This experience will be told over
& over by their friends & family. They will tell how proud they were of their
family member or friend & that they were a part of something great. An
experience never to be forgotten.
Diane came to my office first thing this morning & said "Marcia, I had such a
good time the other night & I did a great job". Matthew has not stopped smiling
& gets so excited when the staff ask him how his night was. Clyde is still
dancing & I am sure if asked would slow dance with any of the "pretty ladies"
again. Alethia has been on stage before singing to an audience, but never in an
arena like the Martin Theatre. Jonathan had a good number of family & friends at
the performance and is still talking about how they applauded him when he was on
stage. He is SO proud of himself.
Please feel free to stop by our facility anytime & visit the students. I
appreciate each & every one of you.
Thanks again!!!
Marcia
